Ardchoille is ideally placed for visitors to the Oban area seeking superior "Bed & Breakfast" Accommodation on this part of the magnificent West Coast of Scotland (See Map). Ardchoille is set in a splendid scenic area within easy reach of the town of Oban which offers a wide variety of holiday and touring facilities. See address, telephone number and email link below.
Walking, cycling, swimming, golfing, fishing, sailing, tours to the islands and, especially, the tranquil peace of the historic and beautiful Isle of lona, are just some of the attractions of the area.
Our home nestles in a small village alongside spectacular Ben Lora against the backdrop of a forest and these offer undemanding low or high level walking with superb views. Quiet, south-facing Tralee beach is within 5 minutes walk
An hour's driving takes you to Glen Nevis and, if you are fit for it, up Ben Nevis - Britain's highest mountain. Again, the picture may take a little time to appear but you will find it is worth the wait!.
An easier mountain climb is at Aonach Mhor – but you can also go up by Gondola! Aonach Mhor is one of Scotland's finest ski areas and the Gondola station by the car park means that you don't have to be very fit to go up to enjoy magnificent views and have a refreshment or a meal in the bar and restaurant at the upper Gondola station.
Ardchoille is a small, comfortable bungalow family-run as a bed and breakfast establishment and providing a warm, friendly atmosphere. As owners, we aim to please our guests and make your stay as pleasant as possible. A separate lounge is available for your relaxation. We provide a traditional cooked “English” breakfast but are happy to make alternatives available if preferred. Our present rate for Bed & Breakfast is £25 per person per night.
A small, friendly licensed-restaurant is within 10 minutes walk and there are more restaurants within easy reach by car. Oban, a fishing port, offers excellent sea-food.
Using Ardchoille as a base there are many beautiful and interesting places to visit. The Sea Life Centre, five miles away, provides a close-up view of local fishes and other sea creatures. A great place to take children (some species can be touched!) it is also famous for its rehabilitation of abandoned baby seals; throughout the day there are regular talks at feeding time for the seals. Just up the road is Appin, site of the infamous Appin murder which featured in Robert Louis Stevenson's book: “Kidnapped”.
The Pass of Glencoe, scene of the infamous Massacre of 1692 is a few miles further north. A new centre has been built to tell the story of the Massacre, but also to tell of the wild-life that abounds in the Glen and surrounding mountains. It is difficult to stand here and not feel in awe of the majestic scenery. Click here for a photograph and the story of the Massacre. It is a "big picture" and may take time to appear - but it is worth the wait).

Beside Ben Lora, which provides magnificent views of Lismore, Mull and Morvern
We could go on a great deal longer for there is so much more to tell of the beauty and history of this part of Scotland's famous west coast. Come and see it for yourself - we'll be delighted to be your hosts.
